Airport lost and found software: they flew home, their headphones are still at gate 22.
Airport lost and found software has one defining constraint: the owner is usually gone. A traveller who left headphones at the gate, or a jacket at the security check, will not come back to check a desk. They need to search from wherever they are and arrange a return remotely.
With vFound, staff snap a photo and vFound AI writes the listing, with search keywords in English, Spanish, French, German, Dutch and Italian, so a traveller who types “auriculares” or “Kopfhörer” finds the headphones. Travellers can also search with a photo, vFound AI suggests likely matches, and your team verifies each claim and arranges the return. The whole cycle is designed around an owner who is somewhere else.

Hotels see guests again; airports, museums, galleries and theme parks mostly don’t. That changes the design requirements: discovery must work remotely, verification must not depend on showing up with a receipt, and the return path is a courier, not a counter.
A photo catalogue solves discovery: travellers recognize their belongings by sight, whatever language they speak, without describing them to a switchboard. Private claim details solve verification, and the claim’s private messages solve the return.
The daily operation
Terminal, security and cleaning teams log items with a photo, where it was found and the storage location, and vFound AI fills in the rest of the listing. The catalogue updates on your page as soon as an item is published.
- Travellers search the page from home or the departure lounge. The link lives on your website, signage and post-visit communications.
- Claims collect private identifying details, so an expensive item is released on evidence rather than persistence, and you can require a second manager’s approval first.
- Shipment is arranged in the claim’s private messages, and the completed return is recorded on the claim.
- Holding periods and disposal run on your policy with an audit trail per item.
vFound AI for travellers who have already boarded
An airport hears every language, and the owner of a found passport is rarely standing at your desk. vFound AI writes the listing, makes it searchable in six languages, translates messages and, when the photo it reads shows an ID or a bank card, keeps that photo out of public view.
- For items logged with photo auto-fill, search keywords are written in six languages, so a traveller who types “sac à dos” or “Rucksack” finds the backpack.
- When photo auto-fill reads a photo that shows a passport, an ID card, a bank card or a lit screen, it switches that photo to staff-only, while the item stays listed and findable.
- A traveller can describe a loss in their own words and language; vFound AI asks a few short questions and fills in the report for them to check and send.
- Messages in another language are translated for your team, and staff reply in the traveller’s language, starting from a draft written by vFound AI.
- Lost reports get likely matches ranked with a one-line reason, and a standing watch emails the traveller each time a likely match is logged, for 90 days.
- The claim check compares a claim’s answers and proof photos with your private record, with red flags and a question to ask next. AI suggests. Your team decides.
Scales down as well as up
The same workflow fits a regional airport, a museum with one information desk, a waterpark or a city attraction. Pricing is per location, not per passenger. vFound includes unlimited team members, items and storage, with photo capture, a visual guest website and vFound AI. vFound runs in the browser on the devices your teams already carry.
One line of code adds the lost and found to your own website, and new claims and lost reports can post to Slack, Microsoft Teams or Google Chat.

Frequently asked questions
How do travellers who already left find their items?+
They search your public found-items page from wherever they are. It sits on your own vFound address, linked from your website and signage, and travellers file a claim online, with no phone queue and no time-zone problem. Guest pages and emails work in twelve languages, and travellers can also search with a photo.
How are items returned to people in other cities or countries?+
Your team sends them by courier or post, arranged in the claim’s private messages once ownership is verified. You use your own courier and any payment arrangement, because vFound takes no payments from guests. The completed return is recorded on the claim, and messages in another language are translated for your team.
Can we keep photos of sensitive items private?+
Yes. When photo auto-fill reads a photo that shows a passport, an ID card, a bank card or a lit screen, vFound AI’s privacy guard switches that photo to staff-only, and staff can keep any other photo private too. The item stays findable without exposing personal details, which then serve as verification questions.
Does vFound integrate with airline or airport baggage systems?+
No. vFound manages found property at your venue; it is not a baggage-tracing system and does not claim to be. Baggage stays with the airline’s system, and terminal lost property runs in vFound. For your own systems, vFound includes a REST API with scoped keys and signed webhooks for item, claim and lost report events.
What does it cost for a high-traffic site?+
vFound Lost & Found is built for a busy site: US$75/month, billed yearly at US$900, with unlimited items, team members and storage, photos, and vFound AI within a fair-use allowance. Every venue starts with a 14-day free trial that requires a valid card; cancel before day 14 to avoid the yearly charge.
Which languages can travellers use?+
Travellers can use twelve: English, Spanish, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Swedish, Turkish, Japanese and Simplified Chinese. Guest pages, claim pages and emails appear in those languages, chosen from the browser or picked by the traveller, and for items logged with photo auto-fill, vFound AI writes search keywords in all six. Item titles show as your team wrote them. Messages and lost reports in another language are translated for your team, who can reply in the traveller’s language.
Does vFound AI decide who gets a passport or phone back?+
No. vFound AI compares a claim’s answers and proof photos with your private record and suggests whether they are consistent, with red flags and a question to ask next. It never changes a claim or an item on its own and never identifies people from images. A person on your team decides each claim and each return.
