The phone was found in a shoe shop. The shopper asked at guest services.
Shopping mall lost and found software gives guest services, security and tenant stores one shared, photographed record of found property, so a shopper who lost a phone somewhere between the car park and the food court can check a single page instead of phoning shops one by one.
With vFound, items are logged with a photo, where they were found and where they are held, published to your centre’s own branded page, and returned only after a verified claim.
Why lost property scatters across a shopping centre
In a mall, things are found everywhere: in fitting rooms and tills, on food court tables, in restrooms and the play area, on benches, in trolleys and across the car park. Some tenants hand items to guest services, some keep them behind their own counter, and security picks up more on patrol.
The shopper, meanwhile, goes back to the store they remember, which may not be the one that has it. The logbook at guest services only covers what reached the desk. Nothing connects the tenant’s drawer, the security office and the shopper standing at the counter asking about a black purse.
One record for guest services, security and tenants
Guest services and security log items in the browser on any phone, tablet or desk computer. Tenant stores hand items in, and on Pro you can invite trusted tenant or security staff as team members with their own logins, so items are logged where they are found.
- Each item records where it was found (a store, a level, a car park zone) and where it is held, so pickup is one trip.
- Shoppers search your centre’s branded page by keyword, category and date, any time, with no account and no app.
- Claims collect private identifying details, and category-specific questions help staff verify a phone, a wallet or a bag of purchases.
- Staff accept or decline, mark the claim ready for pickup, and the handover at the desk is recorded with a name and a time.
Car keys, bank cards and the pushchair by the lift
Mall lost property runs from car keys, parking tickets and prescription glasses to shopping bags full of new purchases, pushchairs, children’s toys, phones and wallets. Bags of purchases can be verified with a claimant’s proof photo, such as the receipt. Phones, wallets and bank cards can be listed with the photo kept private, so they are findable without showing anyone else’s details.
Your centre sets its own holding period. Expiring items are surfaced before they lapse, and anything unclaimed is disposed of or donated on the record. CSV export is included on both plans for your own reporting.
What shoppers experience
A shopper scans the QR sign at guest services, an entrance or a car park pay station, searches “keys”, and sees theirs. If nothing matches yet, they can report what they lost, check possible matches straight away, and get one email if a matching item is logged later. The page carries your centre’s name, colours and cover photo, and every update arrives through a private link by email.
Frequently asked questions
Can tenant stores log items directly?+
On Pro, you can invite tenant staff as team members with their own logins, so they log items where they were found and every action is attributed. Many centres prefer tenants to hand items to guest services instead; either way the shopper searches one page.
How do we handle bank cards and IDs found in the centre?+
Follow your own policy for cards and identity documents. In vFound they can be recorded with the photo kept private, so the record shows what was found, where it went and who handled it, without publishing personal details.
What about items found in the car park?+
Log them with the car park level or zone as the place found. Car keys are a common example: the listing can stay generic while the owner proves ownership by describing the key ring or the car.
Shoppers still call guest services. Does this help?+
Yes. Staff send the page link instead of putting the caller on hold to search the storeroom. The shopper checks photos, files a claim, and your team replies inside the claim conversation.
We manage several shopping centres. How does that work?+
Each centre runs as its own venue with its own branded page, inventory and subscription, and one login can manage all of them. Pricing is per location: Starter US$79/month or US$474/year, Pro US$129/month or US$774/year.
