Best Hotel Lost and Found Software (2026): 10 Tools Compared
The right hotel lost and found software depends on the job: a photo page guests search themselves, a service that ships items home, or links to your property system. Compare ten tools by published price, guest access, return shipping, property system connectors and certifications, then rehearse one room turnover in a trial. We publish vFound; this is a sourced buying guide, not an independent product ranking, and it says where other tools suit a hotel better.
A clear next step.
The essentials
- Choose the job first. Few tools combine a photo page guests search, shipping handled for you and links to your property system.
- Faundit lists integrations with Mews, Opera Cloud, Apaleo and Stayntouch and ISO 27001 certification. vFound’s one property connector is Cloudbeds, as part of vFound Enterprise, and vFound holds no ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certification.
- Chargerback, Deliverback and Traista are free to the hotel and funded by shipped returns. vFound has no free plan and does not sell postage.
- vFound publishes no hotel case study or named hotel customer. Ask every vendor for a reference from a hotel of your size.
- Use the source dates and the room turnover checklist to compare the tools for your own staff, properties and return volume.
How to compare hotel lost and found software
Start with where your hotel loses time. Finds turn up between room turnovers, the front desk takes the calls and a later shift arranges the return, so the record has to survive three handovers. Compare who logs a find and how, how a guest who has already checked out finds or reports the item, who decides ownership and who pays for the return before comparing AI labels.
Property system: some tools list integrations with hotel property systems such as Mews, Opera Cloud, Apaleo or Stayntouch; others take manual entry, CSV or an API. Ask which systems are live today, what each connection reads and whether it is a connection you set up or a marketplace listing.
Returns: several hotel tools take over the courier, collect payment from the guest or owner and print the label. Others only record who posted what. Price the subscription and the guest’s return charge separately; our cost worksheet covers that calculation.
Security and references: ask for certifications in writing, such as ISO 27001, and for single sign-on if your group needs it. Ask for a reference from a hotel of your size. Our trust page says what vFound holds and does not hold.

Test the workflow before you buy
Run one room turnover through each shortlisted tool. A polished staff dashboard is not enough: test what housekeeping does on a phone, what a guest who has checked out sees and how ownership is checked.
- Have housekeeping log three finds from a phone during a room turnover, one with a photo. Check how long it takes, whether it works without an app and whether the next shift can read the record.
- Log two similar black chargers and keep one identifying detail out of the public listing. Check that the front desk can tell them apart without showing the private detail to guests.
- Open the hotel’s guest page on a phone without a staff login, as a guest who has already checked out. Try a search by photo and a lost report; check what happens if nothing matches yet.
- Submit a claim with the wrong private detail, then a correct one. Check who decides, what the guest hears and whether a second claimant can still receive the item.
- Ask which property systems connect today, what data they read and whether the connection is live or planned. Ask for any certification in writing.
- Follow a return to a guest in another country. Ask who books the courier, who pays, who keeps the tracking reference and whether you can still hand an item back at the desk without that service.
- Price every property, staff seat, guest website, AI allowance and export, and confirm the trial’s card requirement and renewal charge.
Use sample records during a trial. Record what worked, what needed a workaround and the full yearly cost before choosing.
The ten tools
vFound
A branded lost and found website for your hotel at yourhotel.vfound.io, with published item photos, private claims and staff-controlled returns. Housekeeping logs a find from a phone browser with a photo, guests search in thirteen languages or by photo, and vFound AI suggests matches while the front desk decides each claim. It is US$75/month per venue, billed yearly at US$900, with a card-backed 14-day free trial. Returns are pickup booking or posting by your own team: vFound does not sell postage, take payments from guests or book a courier. Cloudbeds is the one property system connector (read-only reservation context, part of vFound Enterprise); Oracle OPERA Cloud is not currently available, and other systems use manual entry, CSV or the API. vFound holds no ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certification and publishes no hotel case study. Read the vFound hotel page.
Faundit
A lost and found and return shipping service for hotels and venues, priced on a custom quote based on property size, seasonal volume and integrations. Faundit takes the guest’s payment, creates the label and sends a courier to collect the item. It lists active integrations with Mews, Opera Cloud (OHIP), Apaleo, Stayntouch, Hotelkit and SIXT, plus an open API, SSO, a phone app and ISO 27001 certification. Guests send an inquiry through a hosted page or widget; a public photo catalogue is not stated. If you need one of those connectors or a certified supplier, Faundit is the better fit; test it with your own stay data. Read the Faundit sourced comparison.
Chargerback
It describes itself as patent-protected, cloud-based lost and found software that is free to partners and earns a small amount on each item it ships. The owner pays a fee by card and the business prints a prepaid shipping label. It lists single sign-on, multi-factor login, five permission levels, chain level reporting and suggested matches; a public found items page is not stated. Choose it when no-charge software with prepaid labels matters most, or when you need chain level reporting across properties. Read the Chargerback sourced comparison.
Deliverback
A return delivery service for hotels: the hotel registers free and sends the guest a link, and Deliverback arranges courier pickup and trackable delivery while the receiving party pays the transit fee. It lists more than 2,500 hotels, deliveries to 97+ countries, packaging kits and optional insurance. It says it cannot provide pictures of lost items, so guests do not browse a photo catalogue, and its found items log is not publicly stated. Choose it when you only need items shipped home at no cost to the hotel; it can sit beside a separate log. Read the Deliverback sourced comparison.
iLost
Found items are searchable by the public on ilost.co at any hour, in 19 languages, and its help centre says guests cannot file lost item reports there. The owner collects by appointment or pays for courier shipping booked by iLost, which charges a handling fee. It lists ISO 27001 certification and publishes API documentation; pricing and a free trial are not publicly stated. Choose it when you want a provider to book return shipments and a public search page on iLost itself. Read the iLost sourced comparison.
Boomerang
It describes AI-powered matching, with staff asked to verify each match. Guests submit a claim, Boomerang does the searching and sends daily progress updates, and returns are coordinated for you, with delivery by FedEx, UPS or USPS paid in advance by the owner. Every claim, communication and action is recorded in an audit trail. Venue prices are not publicly stated, and a public found items page is not stated. Choose it when you want the vendor to run the search and coordinate returns. Read the Boomerang sourced comparison.
Traista
It describes itself as completely free lost and found software for hospitality, travel and entertainment; the guest pays for the shipping label, which staff print from the dashboard. Staff log found items with photos, image recognition helps fill in the description, AI ranks likely matches for staff to review and each item has a printable chain-of-custody report. Several sites sit under one account. A public found items page is not stated: guests file a claim through a branded link and form. Choose it when a no-cost tool with guest-paid shipping fits. Read the Traista sourced comparison.
Lost Returns
Its industries page describes online guest reports and shipping integrations, including hotel, airport and transport workflows. Public photo browsing is not stated there and the demo page does not publish pricing. Confirm both with the vendor before shortlisting. Read the Lost Returns source.
Nuvlost
Its home page describes a lost and found platform for schools, hotels, malls, airports and organisations, with a Hotels and Resorts page. Staff log items with photo analysis and batch intake, each item gets a printable QR shelf label, and seekers describe a loss in a chat or search by photo. It lists Starter at CA$39, Growth at CA$199 and Pro at CA$399 a month in Canadian dollars, Enterprise from CA$600 a month and a 14-day free trial that needs no card. Mail Recovery, where the owner pays for a shipping label, is shown as coming soon. Its plan list names a REST API, webhooks and SSO; no certification is named, and a public found items page is not stated. Read the Nuvlost source.
Lostings
It describes a lost and found platform for individuals and businesses: anyone can submit a lost or found report or browse recent lost item reports, and businesses can register for inventory software with staff sub-accounts, flier printing and email alerts for matches. Hotels are one of the industries it lists. The page does not state pricing, how staff log items, shipping or certifications, so ask how found items reach your guests and who can see them. Read the Lostings source.
Where other tools are the better fit for a hotel
- Property system connectors. Faundit lists live integrations with Mews, Opera Cloud, Apaleo and Stayntouch. vFound reads Cloudbeds reservations only, as a vFound Enterprise connection; Oracle OPERA Cloud is not currently available, and other systems use manual entry, CSV or the scoped API.
- Shipping handled and paid for through the service. Faundit, Deliverback, Chargerback, Traista, Boomerang and iLost arrange or support the return, with the guest or owner paying through the service. vFound does not sell postage, take payments from guests or book a courier: your team posts the item and records the carrier and tracking number.
- Certifications and single sign-on. Faundit and iLost list ISO 27001 certification, and Faundit and Chargerback list single sign-on. vFound holds no ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certification, and single sign-on is part of vFound Enterprise.
- Hotel references. Deliverback lists more than 2,500 hotels. vFound publishes no hotel case study or named hotel customer, so ask every vendor, including us, for a reference from a hotel of your size.
- Free to the hotel. Chargerback, Deliverback and Traista are free to the hotel and funded by shipped returns that the guest or owner pays for. vFound has no free plan: its 14-day trial needs a valid card and becomes the yearly subscription unless you cancel first. Nuvlost’s 14-day trial needs no card.
Which one fits your hotel
Shortlist by the return your team handles most. If most owners have already flown home and you want the vendor to run the courier, compare the shipping services first. If you want a free tool, price the guest’s return charge as well. If your group runs on Mews, Opera Cloud, Apaleo or Stayntouch, ask each vendor which connector is live today.
Choose vFound when you want your own branded lost and found page for the hotel, photo-led guest browsing and private claims in the same workspace housekeeping uses to log finds, at a published price. It runs in the browser on any phone, with thirteen guest interface languages, unlimited items and staff, and AI included within a fair-use allowance. Staff confirm suggestions and ownership. Returns are pickup booking and posting by your own team.
See the hotel lost and found software page, try the sample guest website, or start a 14-day free Lost & Found trial. A valid card is required; the US$900 yearly subscription starts after the trial unless you cancel first.
How we checked
We publish vFound and have not independently tested the other tools. We compare the features and prices vendors publish on their own websites; the table links the facts and shows their source review dates. Nuvlost and Lostings were checked on their own pages on 4 November 2026 and Lost Returns on 30 September 2026; comparison pages keep their recorded fact-check dates. Our trial checklist is operational buying advice, not a measured ranking.
Unknown details are labelled “Not publicly stated”. Other hotel options exist; we left out any tool whose own pages we could not open and date. For a current quote or a requirement not covered by those pages, ask the vendor. Send a correction with a link to the primary source.
Frequently asked questions
Which lost and found software suits a hotel?
It depends on the return process. Shortlist a public photo page if guests should find items themselves, a shipping service if most owners have already left the country, and a property system connector if your stay data should reach the log. vFound offers a branded guest website, photo browsing, private claims and staff-controlled returns for US$75/month per venue, billed yearly. Rehearse one room turnover in each trial and compare the full yearly cost.
Does hotel lost and found software connect to our property system?
Some tools do. Faundit lists active integrations with Mews, Opera Cloud, Apaleo, Stayntouch, Hotelkit and SIXT. vFound connects to Cloudbeds with a read-only key as part of vFound Enterprise; Oracle OPERA Cloud is not currently available, and other systems use manual entry, CSV or the API. Ask each vendor which connections are live today.
Is there free lost and found software for hotels?
Chargerback, Deliverback and Traista publish a free-to-hotel model funded by shipped returns that the guest or owner pays for, so free software does not mean free return shipping for the guest. Nuvlost lists a 14-day trial with no card. vFound has no free plan; its 14-day trial requires a valid card and converts to the yearly subscription unless canceled.
Who pays to send an item back to a guest who has checked out?
It depends on the tool. With Faundit, Deliverback, Chargerback, Traista, Boomerang and iLost the guest or owner pays through the service. With vFound your team posts the item with its own courier and records the carrier and tracking number; vFound takes no payments from guests and does not book a courier.
