Switching from Sortly to vFound Equipment
Sortly exports every item detail as a CSV file from its Inventory Summary report. vFound’s Sortly preset reads it by column name.

1. Export from Sortly
- In Sortly, open Reports, then Inventory Summary, and choose Export as CSV. Sortly says the export holds all item details, folders and locations.Source
2. Import into vFound Equipment
- In vFound, open Equipment and choose More, then Rules, service and import, then Import.
- Choose Sortly as the source, choose your CSV file (or paste it), then Preview. vFound shows how many rows it can read and the first ones in full.
- Choose Import. An item whose asset tag is already in vFound is updated, not added twice. Up to 5,000 items go in at a time, from a file under 1 MB.
- Sortly does not publish the column names in its export. If Preview finds no name column, rename the item name header to Name and preview again.
What comes with you
- Each item with its name, folder as the category, location, serial number and price, where the file has them.
- People who use your equipment, through People, Import a CSV file.
What to keep a copy of
- Item photos. Sortly’s CSV lists image links, not the photos; add a photo to each item in vFound when you print its label.
- Quantities of stock items. vFound tracks individual items that go out and come back.
