Package room vs parcel lockers: what is the difference?
Package room vs parcel lockers: a package room is a room where parcels are kept until the recipient collects them, usually from a member of staff, and parcel lockers are compartments the recipient opens with a code.

Many buildings use both
UC Irvine Student Housing, on a page opened on 4 November 2026, says the recipient goes to a kiosk, scans a barcode or enters a code, and the locker with the package opens. Oversized or overflow packages that cannot be placed in the lockers are kept in a mail room, where the student brings a photo ID and signs out the package.
Princeton University’s Meadows Apartments page says package lockers store appropriately sized packages and packages that do not fit in a locker are stored in the mailroom.
Case Western Reserve University Housing says the lockers it operates send a message with a code and directions, while a package processed by office staff comes with a message from the office about how to retrieve it.
Where vFound fits
vFound Parcels is software for the staffed side. It logs each parcel from a photo of its label, emails the recipient a pickup code and records who collected it. It does not control lockers or doors, so a building that has lockers runs them separately.
Try vFound Parcels with your own desk.
